LA VIE EN ROSE ASKED 5 RECORDS THAT INSPIRED TERENCE TO BE A DJ

1) Suburban Knight « Nocturbulous » 1993

if i had one record  who can represent the first times i went raving, this « Nocturbulous » will be one of them ,
Beautiful piece of James pennington aka Suburban Knight, darkness , mysterious & sexy techno.
I remembered going to school in the morning with this sound in my ears.

You can feel the industrial & the chaos vibe that UR had at that time, If i remember well it was also the theme of Patrick Rognan’s french radio show at F.G called Rave up or something similar.

2) Lenny Dee « Baby » 1992

This one was also one to remember as Lenny dee was more known like a pure hardcore techno activist, on the other hand he also produced deep house and housy tracks on Nugroove and others NY House labels. Even if that one had a massive kick drum, all the pads and melodies  were really peaceful and full of Love, it was an intriguing and interesting contrast.

3)Brian Transeau « Relativity » (Carl Craig’s Urban Affair) 1993

I bought the double pack only for the Carl Craig’s remix on the deep dish label (ddr), this remix of « relativity » was another Ufo from Carl,  Housy in a way but something different,  the rhythm and cadence were something else (Visionary),  nothing to do with the vibe of the NY or Chicago producers at that time, a forgotten masterpiece for me …

4)Underworld «Mmm SkyScraper» (Telegraph) 1993

Definitely a major influence for me, from the european house  called « Progressive » or Uk House,
Underworld was a key band for the London Scene, producing a lot of tunes at that time, but this particular version of « Mmm SkyScraper » (Telegraph) had this magic Atmosphere, kind of trancy, but mixed with all different sounds and vibes...

5)Eric B & Rakim  (Juice Know the Ledge) 1992

I was a lot into hip hop before listening to electronic music, I was in a dance group called the Dynamics, We were dancing a lot on that one...
Well, this title from Eric b & Rakim was one of the hit from the movie « the Juice » and it came like a Bomb at that time, av bit faster,  killer flow from Rakim and an incredible choice of samples from Eric B!

A True hip hop track... with a futuristic vibe...
