New Electronic Generation from Italia : Jonny N’Travis

                                                        

1) How did u met ? what was the idea behind the duo ? 

We met long time ago before music , actually we were outside a party and one asked for a sigarette to the other than we hanged out the rest of the night and became close friends. There wasn’t an idea behind the duo , this to say we didn’t plan anything it just came out sharing the passion for music and parties , our obsessive music research , than we started making afters at jonny’s apartment selecting tracks from youtube to I tunes to mix them and actually everybody seemed to enjoy what we where playing until the day a friend of us and Gigi’s uncle got a club… That was the moment when we started Shine on You and we took it seriously. 

2) How would you describe the Electronic scene in Italia ? in Turin ? 

Well we can’t say Italy’s scene is not active…. Italy is part of the club culture and part of the house music movement since the beginning so nowadays it’s very active with important club nights and festivals in all the main cities. Torino probably is one of most prolific cities as it has many talents and nice parties. Two huge festivals like Movement festival and Futurfestival and we are happy to say we are residents of both. We run our party as well here Shine on you , every Thursday night … People call it the Italian Berlin …. 

3) Why Ibiza is such an influence for Italian people ? (Clubbers ,Djs ,Producers ,Fashion)

The history says that Italian people always moved somehow and for many reasons ….. So as we were saying before Italians had always been a very active part of the music movement so this happened in Ibiza also … Italy and Italians contributed to the creation of the party island … Ibiza …. Making parties like : Circoloco , Made in Italy , Meganite at the time ….. , Monza Ibiza has always been a place where you can be free and we like it a lot … So what better place to spend your summer …. Ahahah 

 4) Main Influences of Jonny n’ Travis ? 5 records to die with ? 

Ok , nice question …… Let’s start with our influences. We can say our main influence can correlated to our first club experience between 2003 and 2005 when in Italy the house scene of Riky Montanari , Enrico Mantini , Francesco Farfa was really strong. We where used at school parties before and random parties that day when Jonny called me and talked me about his experience at Vanity of the Saturday before where we went together the next weekend changed everything for us. We fell in love with that sound that today is still a big influence for us. This continues inspiring us today with all the French movement that continues pushing that ipnotic house music !! 

We choosed 5 tracks that are not necessarily what we play today but definitely are 5 records that have an important place in our life and hearts…. 

1) Anthony Rother - Father This record really blew our minds when the electro scene was really strong in Torino with The Plug and we where starting to become party monsters ahahah 

2) Prince - 1999 A masterpiece no words needed to one of the biggest artists ever. We played this a lot and we have an original copy of the first press in Vinyl. 

3) Santana - Smoke on the water This was a track that Jonny’s father used to play always with his band 

4) Cassy - A night to remember ( Perlon ) Well this track jonny used to play a lot he had the vinyl when it was released and than it became a really important soundtrack of Gigi’s life that’s why Jonny gave me the Vinyl one night and I Have it tattoo on my finger 

5) Maya Jane Cole - What they say - Dyed Soundorom remix This record was a big influence for us , one of the killer remixes of Dyed that definetely changed our music view 

5) Futures Plans , Releases , Projects for 2018 ? 

Our plans for the future are very simple continuing with our music learning every day and perfectioning our dj and producing skills ….. We have some releases in the near future on See Double , our dear friend Luca Cazal’s label who has been an important part in our music career until now.

And our first real solo Ep on Djebali’s label coming out soon And let’s see what happens we don’t plan a lot actually ……
